On Tuesday, 3 March, an LPR camera detected a vehicle that had been flagged in connection with a theft and theft-out-of-motor-vehicle case linked to Brakpan.
Once the vehicle was identified, the alert was circulated and response teams moved into action.
The vehicle was later spotted in Boksburg, where the suspects were allegedly in the process of stealing a truck battery. The responding unit maintained surveillance and waited for additional members to arrive before moving in.
Once backup was in position, the suspects were successfully taken down.
Recovered During the Operation
During the operation, batteries and other equipment were recovered from the vehicle.
The suspects, together with the vehicle and recovered items, were transported to Brakpan Police Station for further investigation.
